Today, I rode my new motorcycle to work for the first time. As I accelerated, I felt a sharp pain in my neck. Apparently, poisonous spiders can actually get trapped inside motorbike helmets. Duly noted. FML

Hey OP here, thanks for all the support guys. Luckily I didn't get into an accident. I was able to come out of the whole incident without a scratch but a massive itchy red welt. The doctor said I'll be fine in a few days time. :)

My first thought was Spider-Man

Obvious solution. Soak your helmet in raid before you ride, every time.

As a super paranoid arachnophobia, I've always checked helmets, hats, and anything I wear for spiders before putting it on, so this is kind of a YDI and an FML at the same time for me.

New-found research has shown it takes around 3 weeks before you start scaling walls and develop a spider-sense. Hang in there. In the mean time, you can start working on all dat latex ;)

Ouch! Glad you're okay. Maybe shake out the helmet before you put it on--hopefully that will help.

Moral of the story: don't wear a helmet when riding your motorcycle.
