Sounds like you were high as hell.
Very nice of you to try and save the cat... but... I really doubt it was helpless if it scratched the shit out of you. Just go slower until it gets its fuzzy dumb ass out of the way. I once did this with a turtle. Now that thing WAS helpless, wouldn't be out of the road in time for me, or anyone else, and I'd rather pull over and get it out of the road instead of sitting and waiting on it. I also actually put my vehicle in park. Seriously, that's a very important thing to do, how could you have missed it?
YDI for not running the cat over
the scratches aren't what I hit 'ydi' for... being dumb enough to not have the car in park is.
Yeah, this kind of reminds me of the people who call about a cat stuck in their tree. As some comedian put it "Has anyone ever seen a cat die in a tree? No..." But, my cat is poor and helpless, though. She was hit by a car and now her back legs don't function correctly. Technically speaking, she would be considered "poor and helpless" in the middle of the road.
ydi for not parking your car and fyl for ... oh wait no it ain't the worst thing that can happen to you. so ydi
Apparently it's not that helpless is it?
Cats are the devil incarnate. Never trust one.

That one could go either way. FYL for getting scratched but YDI for not parking the car.
