Today, I showed up to work at 6am, only to find out the schedule was changed. I wasn't actually supposed to be there until 9:15. My boss never told me this. I didn't get to go home either, he just said "Oh well. Get to work." FML

Today, my boss called on my day off and told me to come to work. She neglected to tell me that it was simply to give me my recent paycheck after it got lost, but then she said, "Since you showed up in uniform, you might as well clock in for today. The new guy no-showed again." FML

Today, I got up at 3:15 a.m. to be ready for work at 5 a.m. I get to my work station to find absolutely no work to do. After talking with my boss, I was sent home with no pay. If I'd been employed there 3 weeks longer, I would've been paid for 4 hours. FML

Today, my boss sprang a company workshop on us that I was not informed of, which kept me at work until 10 PM. He expected us all back at 8 AM the next day to continue. On a good day it takes me 3 hours to commute. I got written up for being 10 minutes late to the workshop, after getting up at 4 AM to get there. FML

Today, I was chastised by the CEO in the middle of a management meeting for showing up late to work every day, despite being in my office before 9:00am every morning. It was my 5th day on the job and no one had bothered to tell me that the office opens at 8:00am, and not 9:00am. FML

You were expecting to be to work at 6 anyway, so as long as you got paid it's not like your day went any differently than you had anticipated. I don't see why it's a big deal.

Depends on the job but where I work it's the employees responsibility to make sure to check the schedule. but if You worked the day before and it's changed since then they should have let you known.

That does suck but at least you do have work. People are sometimes told, oh just sit around & lose money (which didn't happen to you) or whatnot. Inconvenient to you yes but really the most you lose here is a little sleep & bad communication with your boss

Same thing has happened to me. Except I thought I worked at 6:45am. Turns out I didn't work til 3:15pm. So I drove 20minutes to work for nothing. Then I got home and couldn't sleep. When I went back at 3:15 they didn't even need me. But felt too bad to send me home. I feel your pain. It's terrible!
