Do the friends you barely have time to see include your wife? I've been in jobs with long work hours before, and it puts a strain on the relationship because time together is limited. My suggestion; review your priorities. Your wife appears to be feeling that your are spending more time away from home than is necessary, and this has her concerned. Perhaps you can cut back to 20/7 to spend a little more time with her and let her know you still care, since you had the forethought to buy her a birthday present (I'm going to assume you remembered before her birthday). Sounds to me like she is missing the man she married. My suggestion; schedule the work around the family.
