Today, I spent three hours painstakingly installing and configuring some parental control software on my 11-year-old son's laptop after I caught him watching porn. Barely an hour after returning the laptop, I caught him watching yet more porn on it. FML

Is it really necessary for an 11 year old to have his own personal laptop? And OP, unless he bought it himself, you have rights to take it away

#1, there are many things that could be done to stop him. Snap his computer in half. Turn off the Internet router. Stab him, light him on fire, and dump his body behind McDonalds. Or simply just take the computer away.

Best parental control is to have it in a room that is viable to everyone. My friend's parent did that by having their laptop step up in the kitchen.

To those saying he's too young to have his own computer anyway if he's home schooled at age11-12 depending on grade he will get his own laptop free from the school until school ends for him its possible

11 and watching ****? Good Lord...Take the laptop away and ground him. Too young for that stuff.

You are the parent right?? Just take it away and don't let him use it without you there. Simple as that

It's natural. When boys hit puberty, they watch ****, and there's really nothing you can do about it.

Maybe don't give your ELEVEN YEAR OLD a laptop?!? Parenting.

Wow 100+ comments and no one says set the policy at the router? No one says use Linux or FreeBSD? Depending on the provider you can get several logins and control it at the provider level. Last, no laptop use without a patent right there supervising directly. Come on, you let an 11 year old beat you????

He's 11, he'll learn about this stuff sooner or later. I'd suggest talking to him about it instead of just taking shit away from him for a natural curiosity. Though it is weird that an 11 year old has his own laptop.

That's what you get. Nothing more annoying than parental software when tryna whack it. I get you want to keep him safe, but he's going to do it anyways and do you really want to know what he's doing it to?
