Three of my family members married Hispanics, one cousin and two siblings. All three were separated with just a few years. One ended in divorce. There are HUGE cultural differences that, when in love, you think doesn't matter. But after the butterflies pass you're forced to face them. It may not be racism causing your dad to say this but the very real knowledge that there will be some innate hurdles you'll have to cross in order to find long term happiness. This is just the realistic approach, not the idealistic approach. And FYI, my whole family has treated their spouses with nothing but graciousness, even during the separations.

I'm so sorry but I can't help but laugh because my parents don't want me with someone own race (Mexican) so it's funny to me your parents do. Seriously though I apologize that your dad has that mindset. I hope you and your boyfriend are together for a long and happy time.
