Today, I started my new job, and was introduced to my colleague. She seemed old and quite experienced, so I thought she was going to teach me. I was wrong. It turns out I'm a replacement for her daughter, who used to secretly do all of her work for her because she has no idea how to do it herself. FML

I'm sure they'll figure that out soon enough. Don't get stuck doing twice the work!

I would quit. And why in the hell is she still employed?

Why should OP quit? She hasn't done anything wrong!

Usually, the one whom tattles ends up looking bad. Especially if it's an older lady you're tattling on. My advice, do your job and only your job, that way, her lack of skills will show on its own! Then you still have your job and aren't known as the tattle tale that cost an older lady her job!

This, but don't feel bad for costing an old lady her job. No matter her age if she's in a position where she's expected to do anything and doesn't live up to the standard, and instead delegates the work onto her daughter- she's manipulative and you've got to watch your back. Don't end up do her work for her, you've got your own job to do well, not hers. It will soon become clear who actually was doing the work for her and her time will come, so just do your own job really well and make your boss see you're an honest worker. Even more important in this situation because you have a more senior (no pun intended) worker who might get snarky if you don't bend the way her daughter did under pressure. Don't fold!

Ignore! I'm an old lady & hit the button twice! Lol!

So when she gets replaced you and your new co-worker can learn together!

Don't do her work, she will be fired, SIMPLE!

Sounds like they fired the wrong person! This is one of the reasons why I hate when companies allow families to work directly with one another.

Don't mean to sound harsh but ole girl needs to be fired. The only way I'm doing two jobs is if I'm getting paid twice.

well you start at the bottom and work your way up...it will look up if you a hard worker and try your best...

This is your chance to tell a better qualified jobless friend to put in an application and get their foot in the door.

Sounds like the job I started 18 months ago. I thought it was wonderful that the old and experienced colleague would train me... until I noticed that she had bullied all her colleagues for the last 10 years so much that they deceided to leave. As she didn't have a trainee to do her work for about a year before I started the work simply didn't get done at all. I am still here. As is she. Still being paid about 1 1/2 times my salary. After not showing up for work for four months in a row. While everybody still thinks she is brilliant FML.
