Ouch. Praying for you.
Im gonna be honest the first time i read this I thought you said snail not nail so I just thought you had a snail growing in your foot and I dont know how I didn't think "Oh thats probably not what happened" but I just kinda went with it
Unless it was stitched by someone who does not have the proper medical license, I recommended getting a lawyer and suing the person for malpractice. Whenever someone comes in with a puncture wound and requires stitches, an x-ray is performed first to see how deep the wound is and after said object is taken out (before stitches to make sure there is nothing else inside the body). It seems like whoever attended to you at the time either did not do an x-ray after the nail was taken out, or had it done, but neither the doctor or radiologist looked at the x-ray image correctly.

Go back and figure out who’s stitched you up the first time what hospital and Dr. get a lawyer and sue them sounds like they didn’t follow procedure on the first go around. You probably have a pretty legitimate claim for a malpractice lawsuit.
Just listen to some Nine Inch Nails and you’ll realize that two-and-a-half is not too bad.
