Just chill out and go with the flow, brother
So, uh, the thing about the term "gay panic" is that it referred/refers to a legal defense that could be used to justify why someone had committed a crime, like assault or murder. ie: You killed that guy because he was hitting on you, a fellow man, and that was just so icky/wrong/sinful/whatever you want to call it, that you flew into a sudden rage because of course you would in such a *heinous* situation (see also, "trans panic", which was/is used in exactly the same way). Because, y'know, threatening someone's heterosexuality/manliness/etc. in such a way was *clearly* a provocation to murderous rage. Thankfully, those "panic" defenses are not seen as legitimate in many places anymore (but sadly, many places do still allow them to be attempted). So, like, not to be a total pendant, but, perhaps consider a different way to describe your situation going forward, because that is a pretty ugly history for a term to carry.
