Today, I still haven't gotten my 2015 tax return. After months of hassle and 40+ hours of work, I finally found my mistake. How far off was I? A mere $29. At least the IRS is thorough. FML

Thorough assholes, amirite? But seriously that is unfortunate, I hope it didn't mangle up your life too much.

Did you actually wait a year for your 2015 tax return? If so, it's a little bit of YDI - you should have been asking about it (Have you been asking them about it?). Or did you just wait until now to post this FML?

At least you found it...you better check on your 2016 to make sure that's correct...but the upside it it's kind of hard to make the same mistake twice...

Maybe hire someone to do your taxes from here on out? Better to spend the - I dunno - 50 dollars (?) than to do it yourself and get 0 return due to an error that took your forever and a half to figure out. Or at least triple check all your progress from now on. I honestly would have hired someone just to find the error after the first 10 hours and 2 months or so... my sanity would depend on it. judging by that you are right this, your sanity is still in tact! So there's a bit of good news.

They gonna squeeze every penny. I feel you op.

How ironic, when I looked at the comments the ad was for a tax program!
