Today, I submitted my 5000 word assignment. When I got home, my mother asked if I'd checked it through one more time like she always warned me to do. I hadn't, therefore hadn't noticed the paragraph on page 11 that she'd written, telling me to pay attention to the small details. FML

Omg who in the world would do such a thing... I would give my mom a sound tounge lashing if she ever tried to do something on that scale. Its your work, not hers. I say you walk around correcting her work for the next month, see how she likes it

If you're old enough to be issued a 5000 word assignment, aren't you also old enough to do it without mum helping?

page 11? and 5000 thousand words, you must use one large font

It was probably double spaced - most teachers prefer that.

Or she double spaced it. That's fairly standard in America. Edit: Just saw where OP was from. Never mind. The double spaced part still stands, though.

I was just going to say...even double spaced 5000 words wouldn't take up that many pages unless you were using 24 sized font or something.

maybe he ment she rewrote paragraph 11

I don't get why that doesn't make sense. I just checked on a story I'm writing, which is way past 11 pages, and when I checked how many words there are from page 1 to 11 it was about 4 thousand. Arial size 12. Not double spaced. So it would be completely realistic for there to be a paragraph on page 11. Just saying.

I dunno, I wrote a 6500 word story which works out at 14 pages in total (take away 2-3 pages for empty spaces after chapters) in size 12, Times New Roman. If the OP double spaced it could quite easily reach 11 pages.

Maybe there was pictures in the essay. I know I had to do one for college that was 4000 words plus grafics and ilustrations. Took up like 15 pages easy.

You guys are forgetting that depending on the type of paper she's writing, she might have had a title page, table of contents, abstract, references, outlying introduction, or any other form of added bs. _________________________________ www.myspace.com/rapid99

A 3000 word paper, double spaced, times new roman, 12pt, 1" margins comes to about 9 or 10 pages. A 5000 word paper would therefore be about 12-15 pages. If you think the font would need to be large for this to happen, you simply don't know what you're talking about.

If the documents you're working on are so important, why isn't your computer account password protected? What happened sucks, but look at it this way: Your mother has helped you learn a very important lesson!

This is an FYL. Your mom had no business going through your paper like that. If she wants you to succeed, she shouldn't change your work. She should have at least told you before you turned it in. I know I wouldn't read my 5000 word paper right after I wrote it. The next day, sure. The mom really didn't have any business doing that.

Yeah, cuz anyone who doesn't read their 5k word paper immediately after writing it is automatically a stoner.

So uhhh... although it is a fyl, it is still true that you should have paid attention to smaller details.

this is why I moved out when I was 17 so my parents couldn't be all up in my stuff...except they still manage to intrude somehow...smh

Well you should have read through it

The way I see it, she helped you reach the 5000 words requirement. YDI for not checking before submitting it.

Ten bucks says the teacher never even notices Mom's paragraph. He or she will place the paper on a postage scale and if it weighs enough, you get an 'A.'
