Today, I woke up in a puddle of blood after 7 hours of sleep. Before going to bed, I had inserted a tampon that should've kept me dry for at least 8 hours. Apparently it doesn't work well if sleepy me forgets to take the top part of the plastic wrapping off. FML

I first used one as a virgin. I was well educated by my mom about intimacy and tampons, so I never had trouble with them. That's why ladies need to be taught.. Also, I think it's a bit offensive to say it felt like "self rape."

The sad truth is that pads smell bad, but no one wants to talk about that. Tampons require skill and experience to use, but are 100% more hygienic when done right. TSS is only a risk if you are completely irresponsible with them.

I know this may sounds disgusting but don't try unless you are very lubricated like on your heaviest day and use the smallest size you can on your first time. Plus try to relax (most important thing). Use a plastic one and have pads as back ups.
