Today, I told my roommates they have to go get jobs, because I can't afford to support them or their bad habits any more. They responded by pawning all my DVDs for cash to buy cigarettes. FML

You better find some new roommates. FYL

Then stop enabling them and make them pay their own rent. They will be evicted soon enough.

Sounds stupid but file a police report. Sound like shitty roommates

That was the question I was going to ask too, it's theft and by doing nothing they'll figure they can sell more of OP's stuff in the future.

Yes, this is a matter for the police. This is theft. File a report and use it to get them evicted. Hope you're free of them soon, OP.

If OP knows which pawn shop they went to and tells the owners the DVD's are his/her stolen property, it might get the ball rolling on that police report. Chances are the police won't do much about it themselves, but having the police report and the pawn shop on OP's side could help.

hopefully OP learns from this experience and finds better ones.

What the hell? That's the kind of rotten behavior that cannot be condoned whatsoever. I think that might even be illegal; sue their asses. I would be indignant if they took my personal property and sold them. And to add insult to injury, they used that money for petty selfish gain.

there's no 'might' about it, it is flat out illegal since they sold OP's goods so it is theft. OP needs to file a police report and have them arrested, if you know the pawn shop they sold your goods to then hopefully they can testify against your roommates and get your goods back.

I wonder how long OP has been paying the rent. Chances are they owe him/her some money too.

Nice job for making that decision OP. Who knows what else these people might be doing.....

Get some new roommates, that sucks.. Good luck OP!

Time for new roomies OP. they are not your children & you are not responsible for them

U need to set a line in which ur new roomates knows it is a serious issue if they crossed it.. like using ur towel.. toothbrush.. socks.. etc... find new mature roommates. :)

Time to respond with a police report. **** them, they've earned it
