Today, I took my girlfriend for what I thought would be a romantic horse-drawn carriage ride. We didn't expect the horse to die in the middle of it. FML

It's a shame that when a guy finally takes the effort to arrange such a thing, that happends. if my boyfriend ever would do something like that I bet something simular would happen ?

The horse-drawn carriage system is very hard on the horse. Often the animals are mistreated or abused

Not to mention the injury to the hooves from constant walking on asphalt. Even with shoes, the strain on the hooves is horrific. If you're interested, look up "road founder." (There are different types of the same illness, caused by different things). It's amazing how a horse's weight is balanced on four (comparatively) small hooves. The hooves make the horse, if something is wrong with the hooves it's very bad.

Thank you for mentioning that. I took my son on his first and last pony ride yesterday. I could only feel bad for the pony ;it had to ride around in a circle all day long. poor thing look like he could barely make it another turn around

I was going to say the same thing maybe the horse had been put threw so much stress and abuse and he just gave out during the date so **** hid life not OP's. I feel like that wouldn't even be romantic for me it would just be heartbreaking.

I know the guy that owns these horses, and the one we had was a 22 year old Clydesdale, he only worked him 3 days of the week, for no more than 4 hours. And the horse would neigh any time any other horse was being worked until they took him out, he loved what he did

Um... was the horse old, or was it some kind of freak thing that just caused it to drop dead? either way that sucks. poor horse. :(

i hope you contacted someone about this, horses dont go from pulling a cart to suddenly dead unless theyre VERY old and they shouldnt of been pulling a cart, or the horse wasnt looked after at all.
