Today, I tried fixing my dad's lawnmower after he said, "Girls can't change a lightbulb right, let alone fix a machine." An hour later, when I had the lawnmower running again, he bitched me out for trying to make him "look stupid." He's been sulking and acting pissy ever since. FML

So he wants you to be helpless? I'm sorry, but that's the dumbest shit ever.. You go girl! Haha

I don't really understand what his problem is here. He raised a daughter who is capable of fixing things herself and that means that he won't have to take time out of his day and burn his gas to go to your house and fix your car one day. He should be grateful.

Q: How many sexist men does it take to fix a mower? A: None, it takes their daughter.

I wouldn't call that an FML OP. I'd say your dad is sexist and you proved him wrong. Good for you!

Good for you!! I'm super proud of you. He'll get over the sting of his own words. And it will teach him a lesson. You could also go talk to him about it too. Might help you two bond better if you let him know how his comment made you feel. Good luck and don't stop being awesome.

It sounds like it was a good thing that you were the one to fix it, it isn't safe for children to play with heavy machinery....

This is a win. not an FML. Lol

He doesn't need you to make him look stupid. It just comes naturally to him

Wow, your dad is sexist. I know female mechanics who know more about cars, lawn mowers, trucks, and SUV's than the male mechanics around here.
