Today, I tried fixing my dad's lawnmower after he said, "Girls can't change a lightbulb right, let alone fix a machine." An hour later, when I had the lawnmower running again, he bitched me out for trying to make him "look stupid." He's been sulking and acting pissy ever since. FML

Your dad's an asshole! I hope that you can meet people who aren't so closed-minded and sexist!

I say you deserve it (in a good way) for proving him wrong.

I'm sorry that you have a sexist father. Good job proving him wrong !

Alright! Girl power! Way to show him!

I am a father of 2 girls. 10 and 12 years old. I am very mechanical. the day me daughter shows is me up will be the best day of my life. great job.

It's not a case of her father being immature. A man feels most manly when he is performing a 'manly' task. Not being able to do it by himself knocks his pride down a notch. Seeing a female (by the way, you go girl!) perform this 'manly' task knocks that pride down some more. He's actually probably really proud of you, but his ego is just a bit bruised.

still doesn't need to be an ass hole about it

I always praise my daughter on her accomplishments. Fathers should always praise kids when they do well, especially girls. It is important to make the future generations of women confident to make a better global society.
