Today, I've been one year sober. My health has improved a lot, unlike my social life, which has died a horrible, lonely death. FML

Just goes to show that those people weren't really your friends. There are so many other things in life to occupy your time..... You don't need a type of drug to have a good time.

Well congrats on being sober at least!!(:

I'm in the same boat. Sober....Yay But so ALONE. BUT by far a better place. Sadly we also learned we had no friends. Only people to share in addiction. Far from where we need to be but better than we were. It's hard work, always be proud of where u are today

Congrats on your sobriety, OP. You're doing the right thing. I suggest you look for people who share your non-drinking interests. If you don't have any, now's the time to find something. Make a list of all the stuff you thought would be neat but never did and start going through them. You'll find something that you'll enjoy.

Congrats and they weren't real friends. Just start making new ones and you'll find that you'll have better times with them than those others.

You don't need drugs or alcohol to have fun. Now you can get friends that will like you for you.

Try going to a local alano club, or AA meetings. I know that they have awesome shindigs, and I'm sure you can find a few people to pal up with.

Good for you on being sober! That's awesome! If those people aren't your friends anymore, they probably weren't good ones to begin with.....

I feel your pain man, I'm just sober out of personal choice not because I was an alcho or drug addict, but so many people just stopped inviting me to things because they think I'm allergic to fun or something - and when I do get invited out it's 'come on.. just one drink, have some fun!' It's like I WAS having fun until you decided to heckle me, now I'm grumpy. ******* annoying shit, FYL.

I was making bets with the people I went out with, that they wouldn't even notice I was sober. The next day, when I was just a little bit tired while the others were nursing their hangovers, they were pretty jealous. And they had to admit that I wasn't the no-fun morale preacher they had expected when I refused to drink.

only because you don't know how to socialize without a crutch.
