OP you definitely deserve better friends
You found out who your true friends were
I understand your disappointment, but if they stopped hanging out with you because you got clean then they weren't your friends to begin with. I think you're much better off now. Be proud of this milestone, find a way to celebrate it, and meet some friends who appreciate the person you are rather than the person you were when you were drunk or high (whichever applies).
If you can't have fun with a group of friends without needing to drink then you're just a boring person in general and need to get new friends.
Why not join a group for recovering alcoholics? Then you could make friends with people who are going through the same thing as you.
I clicked you deserve it but in a GOOD way. You worked for your sobriety. Go find people who will support you. They are out there!! Best of luck
Go to meetings, arrive early, stay late, volunteer at/go to functions, do service work, get a sponsor, become a sponsor. More will be revealed. 7 years clean. Hope you find your way friend.
There is something to be said for having a healthy relationship with things like alcohol. After all, the only people who are obsessed with food are anorexics and the morbidly obese. If you can drink socially in moderation enough that it doesn't affect you physically, then by all means.

Just goes to show that those people weren't really your friends. There are so many other things in life to occupy your time..... You don't need a type of drug to have a good time.
Congrats on one year of being sober:)
