Today, I was at a mall. A woman stopped by me, said slowly and loudly, in Spanish "baño?" Knowing a bit of Spanish, I nodded and pointed the restrooms out for her. She then mutters about "dang Mexicans and their inability to speak English". I'm not even Latina. I'm Irish-American. FML

Today, a customer came in who only spoke Spanish. I speak Spanish rather well so I helped the customer. She ended up buying $2300 worth of stuff. I got written up because not speaking English apparently "has the potential be offensive to other customers if they are not able to understand you." FML

Today, a lady at the clothing store told me to, “Stop speaking 'Mexicano', this is America!” when I was talking on the phone. I actually speak Portuguese. When I pointed this out, she verbally tortured me and threatened to, “Call the cops” if I didn’t leave her store for, “making her feel threatened.” FML

Today, we had a substitute teacher. She was taking attendance and had trouble pronouncing my last name. When I corrected her, I heard her mutter under her breath about, “Goddamn Mexican immigrants…” I’m from Greek ancestry, born in the USA. FML

Today, a gorgeous woman on a train told her friend she thought I was hot in Spanish, assuming I was a dumb gringo tourist. In fact, I speak Spanish fluently, my wife is Colombian, and she was standing right next to me. My wife can’t rationalize my street value, and made me sleep on the fold out. FML

#69 You are awesome I agree, she's just a racist, although if you have dark hair and got a bit tanned, anyone can be mexican. Crap, even I get called Mexican. Oh maybe that's just because i lived in mexico 15 years, and french little "hood kids" in france are a bunch of ignorants too. (I still don't understand the "were are you from" questions, who cares were i was born, and why do people ask that if they want to know were you live ???) Anyway, like some said, you should have insult her in english, and if possible, with irish accent.

Oh and yes, you can be hispanic but not mexican. However, anyone speaking native french is "from france". Most french speakers from Canada, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Monaco, Moracco, Cote d'ivoire and a couple of other african countries won't mind. It's a population thingy. Mexico if the main spanish speaking country. I'm sorry but El Salvador, Belize, Panama, Guatemala.. are like Monaco in the precedent example. Ok, Argentina and Chile are like Belgium so they may be angry to be "called" mexican... who cares ?

That´s the most stupid comment I´ve ever read. You are completely wrong. Mexico isnt the "main spanish speaking country". Every country speaks their own kind of spanish and the fact that mexico is closer to USA doesnt mean they are kinda more "latin" or more spanish speakers or whatever. So dont try to look smart talking about stuff you dont know. People from England came to America as well as people from Spain and they created every country equal so Mexico isnt more important than any other latin country. Believe me. And it´s absolutely stupid...why would you call an argentinian or colombian a mexican? or why would you call an american... idk an asian? That´s just stupid.
