Today, I was at a restaurant with my kids. I told my 13 year old about how the very first time she said she loved me. She was 2 and it was at this very restaurant. I told her the details and even started tearing up a little. She didn't even look up from her cell phone and said, "That's fab, ma." FML

Kids these days...at least she didn't say it by text :)

I'm only a year older than OP's daughter, and I would have probably gushed all about it! :') Am I the only one who loves hearing stories about their childhood?

Well, that sucks, but you raised her, so you shouldn't be too surprised by her behavior. Why on earth does a 13 year old need a cell phone anyway? You ought to have taken it from her, at least until she practices better manners.

Fyl for having a brat of a daughter. At the same time though, she isn't going to just randomly do this. Most likely she does things like this (ex.talking back) and gets away with it so why expect any better in this situation?

I'm 14, there's a strict no phones or iPods at the table rule. You might want to adopt it.

1: I find your child to be mean little brat. 2: I find this one "fake". I'm 16. And I've never heard ANYONE of my generation say "fab".

That's when you take the phone break it and don't buy her another one! Everyone says kids these days they have no manners or consideration, but if the parents would have taught them some respect; like not to be watching YouTube when someone's talking to them you wouldn't have the problem.

I agree that the daughter was being rude, but destroying the phone? I could see confiscating it for a while, but breaking it sounds kind of extreme to me. Not to mention a huge waste of money.

I would have copped it if I did that -.-

That's what you get for giving a 13 year old a cell phone.

My mom would have slapped me and taken my phone away... Hell, I didn't even get a phone until I turned 17... and that was because they took the payphones out of my high school! lol

My younger cousin, who is around the same age as your daughter OP, does the exact same thing. She is constantly glued to her phone and whenever I do see her, she can *not* be bothered by saying hello to her family. I beg of you to nip this in the bud and take the phone away and not give it back for a very long time.
