Today, I was at a restaurant with my kids. I told my 13 year old about how the very first time she said she loved me. She was 2 and it was at this very restaurant. I told her the details and even started tearing up a little. She didn't even look up from her cell phone and said, "That's fab, ma." FML

I'm only a year older than OP's daughter, and I would have probably gushed all about it! :') Am I the only one who loves hearing stories about their childhood?

Maybe I'm too old but... What does "fab" mean? Short for fabulous?

I'm 17, and I've only had a cell phone for a year or so. When I was around 11 and everyone I knew had one, I simply wasn't allowed. The only reason I have one now is, like in other posts, safety reasons, and to be picked up from work. Also, I paid for my phone, and I pay for every call I make. I almost guarantee if you make a teenager pay for their own phones, they wouldn't be on it 24/7.

Don't take it personally. She's at the age where anything her parents do embarrasses her. Just let it go and wait for her to grow up.

She's a 13-year-old, at the age where teenagers have to learn to be emotionally independent from their parents. Stop tugging at the umbilical cord, she's not your baby anymore. Just take solace that she'll come around when she becomes an adult.

She's 13, the last thing she wants is people to see her mom being all sappy with her in public. Fyl and all, but you were 13 once, honestly, what'd you expect?

Also, I might, you were also telling her : ''Oh my god, that was so much better when you were a little kid, why didn't you stay like that ?''

What did you expect her to say? Do you realize that her experiences are different from yours, and that because she's never had a child before, she can't empathize with you? To her, your story is completely uninteresting and does not arouse the same emotions as it does in you.

This is what my generation has become, people who rely on technology or need it to survive and live.

You do realize that EVERY generation has depended on technology for survival, all the way back to the **** habilis toolmakers from 2.6 million years ago?

**** habilis isn't known to be a direct ancestor of **** sapiens sapiens. At best they are a cousin. However if you are going to pretend like they're a direct ancestor, then at least start at the beginning- Australopithecus garhi is from the same line, but older, and has been found in association with stone tools. For a more direct line; **** ergaster is believed to be an ancestor of H. s. sapiens, and is roughly contemporaneous with **** habilis - this is the **** you were looking for. You know as well as everyone else does that by 'technology' they mean modern technology, of the gadgety variety. Stop trying to sound smarter than you are....

Ydi.. Why is your child at a restaurant using a cell in the first place. DAMN ppl teach your kids some manners.
