Today, I was at dinner with my boyfriend and his family. We were talking about relationships, and I commented on how online dating was the dumbest thing ever. His mom and step-dad went on to tell me how they had met through an online dating service. FML

Today, I called my mom to see how she was doing. She quickly hijacked the conversation and said that she's signed me up for a dating site, because she feels bad that I can't find a decent man. I've been dating my boyfriend for seven months, and she's seen me with him multiple times. FML

Well, I think they took it the wrong way if they were upset. I see what you said and what they did as 2 different things. Online dating is very stupid, it means you sit at the computer and chat with a person you don't really know and call them your bf/gf for months at a time and never have a real plan on meeting, that is online dating IMO. Online dating services are there to MEET somebody to actually date. Online dating services can help because you meet on there, you talk a bit and move on to actually dating, can help break the ice. They used an online dating service, sounds like the latter to me, so maybe they took it wrong and it was just a misunderstanding.
