Why are you even lifting weights? Most women don't lift weights unless they want to add mass, in which case I would understand.
Maybe he's not obsessed with bulking up, unlike his overly butch(?) girlfriend. I use lighter weights at the gym, because I've been trying to lose weight, not gain muscle mass. Having more muscle doesn't necessarily mean you're in better health.
