Today, I was babysitting a 7 year-old brat. He refused to eat his vegetables, so I forbade him from playing until they were finished. He stomped off upstairs, so I let him cool off for a couple of minutes. When I went upstairs, he had taken scissors to all of his mother's clothes. FML

Sucks what the kid did to his mom's clothes, but it also isn't necessary to make someone eat all their vegetables, finish their plate, etc. Put yourself in their shoes.

Really? They need to be prepared now for the life they have when they are adults. If they get problems later on because you forced them to eat something, then you're not looking at the bigger picture. One simply does not get a eating disorder or mental problems just by being forced to eat something they don't like.

A child clearing their plate isn't important, it's not neglecting the healthy stuff. But that's not what's important, in my opinion. Destroying mom's stuff to get someone else in trouble shouldn't leave the babysitter without a job. At 7 years old we're capable of going to our rooms and punching a pillow or playing some music. He went out of his way to cause everyone grief. Was he also "punishing" mom for not being home? Childrens are pricks. I can't wait to tie my tubes.

That kid is far too old to be acting that way. I would expect a kid under 5 to throw a tantrum about having to eat veggies and then go destroy something because he can't let out his anger properly. But 7? The kid's in grade school, for crying out loud. And the reason he acted in the way that he did is probably because his parents let him get away with murder and don't punish him properly. OP's babysitting style may not be what you all are familiar with, but she was doing what she thought was best for the kid, and that's her job after all. And even if that wasn't the right decision, that doesn't give the little brat the right to go destroy someone else's property, he should know better. I'm not saying that I condone spanking for every little thing, but if my kid were to ever do something that stupid, he'd get a swift smack on the behind.

Luckily that wasn't me...I would panic and try to hide the evidence.

Sucks to be you. Babysitters don't force kids to eat. As a mother that would be my job. Your just a baby sitter.

#106 - You're the reason kids are getting stupider. Firstly, you can't even spell correctly. Please do us all a favor and get sterilized.
