Today, I was cleaning my father's study room and wondering why I did not receive my acceptance/rejection letter from a college I really wanted. I found the acceptance letter, on his desk, also approving of a full scholarship. The deadline to confirm was a month ago. FML

Your Dad should be writing to the College and telling them this role in the circumstances. Then you should be much more proactive on your part for communication.

Hmmm......you are an adult so start acting like one now!!

In a world where people expect things to be given to them on hand and foot, a young man/woman was waiting for a letter, and when he/she didn't get it for months, he/she didn't do anything about it, even though there are multiple ways of gaining the same confirmation that was in the letter. Oh fyl, indeed. Next time, check for christ's sake.

I'm not gonna be an asshole and say you TOTALLY deserved it like everyone else. You shouldn't have to expect something like what your dad did to happen. Since you're going into college its safe to assume you are 18. That means that your dad had no legal right to go through your mail and its is a criminal offense. You also can, and should, sue him for trespass to chattels.

I would be SO mad at him. I would call the college, explain to them, attend and then never speak to my father again until he apologizes a million times. I don't think it's dramatic, college is the platform of you entire life, it's not something to mess with.

it sounds like every1 has to do everything for you. you couldnt call, email, fax or write?? maybe your dad wanted you to learn to be proactive. as a dad, having to remember everything for my kids- i know i forget crap. sometimes on purpose. if they severely regret it, they remember next time or suffer until they figure it out.

Oh honey, I'm SO sorry, you should definitely bawl him out, and call the college and see what they say? You can just say you received it late. Postal service messes up sometimes.
