Today, I was cleaning up litter from the street, when a guy asked who I work for. I said nobody and that I was just doing some community service. Before I could clarify that it was voluntary community service, he called me a "piece of shit delinquent", spat on me, and walked off. FML

The people in this world do not fail to surprise me. It's disgusting how a person can treat another human like that.

You should've hit him with some of that cleaning equipment.

What a dick. I'm sorry that happened. You sound like a really sweet guy and I hope this doesn't deter you from doing more good things. Maybe next time be more direct and say because I want to and more people should also.

If someone spit on me, they would be praying for the police to come to their rescue... Just saying.

l still get shocked by how people are rude in this world. It shows that some people are complete dicks.

I hoped you kicked his ass for spitting on you!!

Isn't that assault? You should report that scumbag to the police. And good job picking up trash, even though the people who threw it there should be doing it. I feel too guilty to even spit out a wad of gum on the ground.

sue for verbal abuse and something about bodily fluids. some peoples spit carry diseases so it can be a hefty charge

You can't sue for those things, you over-litigious idiot. Spitting can be considered a minor assault but wouldn't be worth pressing criminal charges unless it was an ongoing attack, and verbal abuse isn't slander unless it is defaming your character and they said it to people of importance.

Jumping to conclusions too quickly? Poor OP

"Community service" actually implies that you're a prisoner. I've volunteered at a few places where I was informed to say that I was engaging in "service for the community" to avoid confusion

People suck. Good for you for trying to improve the world.
