Today, I was clipping my nails. When I got to my toenail, the whole thing somehow ripped right out. I'm in agony. FML

Sorry...The worst thing is trying to sleep, fair warning. Your leg won't stop jumping all night long. Take some tylonal and make sure to keep the wound clean.

it actually all depends on the person and if the root itself was damaged. i lifted the entire toenail off one of my little toes once while cutting them without actually harming the roots, it grew back in a little under 8 weeks.

There is a root. I highly doubt just clipping took out the root. This coming from someone who personally pulled a nail then had two surgically removed while i watched. It just.. Its not possible. There are special tools and.. Yeah just no.

Oh, I feel your pain. One of my earliest memories is of slicing my big toenail off with a piece of glass. Saying it hurts like hell is an understatement. So sorry that happened to you OP!

Because it was a black toenail that was hanging on by a little bit getting caught painfully on my socks or the carpet. The new toenail was already growing underneath so that also made it really uncomfortable

Ugg I had to do that with my big toe when I was a kid. The old nail on top was literally rotting. Pulling it off really really hurt, but it had to be done.

I had to do the same thing. A basketball bounced on it weakening the glue so all i had to rip was the root. Man that hurt though.

Once when I was like 6 I was playing outside and my whole toe nail ripped off and I didn't even notice, but when I did I got scared my mom was going to get me in trouble so I wrapped it in toilet paper. Take some advils to ease the pain, clean it, and bandage it up. Hope you feel better soon OP

Been there. I just wrapped a bandaid around the toe. Luckily nails grow back. May your pain be quick, OP!
