YDI for voluntarily choosing that job.
maybe they didn't have enough to tip alot be glad you got one maybe they are having a hard time between jobs or.sometjing
So? It's not their job to pay for your paycheck. At least you got something you ungrateful shit
Holy shit. You're a massive douche. Servers make like $2.50 an hour so their paycheck is almost entirely tips. It's so ******* rude to not tip someone unless the service is absolutely atrocious.
Op, you got a tip. And now you're complaining about how much it is. I bet you made other tips during that shift or throughout the week. You could have been left no tip. The amount of the bill doesn't matter. Percentage tips are stupid because guess what? It takes the same amount of effort to carry food no matter how much they cost. A burger is a burger whether it comes from the finest cow bred in Europe or from a cow down the road at a local slaughter shop.
Maybe it was because of your terrible grammar
Ah, the joys of tipping in the US...
I know it sounds horrible, but I'm poor as **** so I cant tip. If I was going to the US Id have to put aside money for tipping x_x
Dw, a lot of us are in that position. It's sad that we get yelled at for not tipping "well enough" when it's the law that their managers should pay the difference + when we are struggling too. Salon trip? Tip. Restaurant trip. Tip. Where I live.. A subway trip even asks for a "tip". It's sad. I always tip, but I have a smaller threshold. I'm not a crazy rich person, or even in the middle. I'm a student, with tons of debt and so I can't afford tipping.
Oops! I'd missed the bit where it was a fifty dollar tab. Here's what I'd said: If you don't have enough cash to tip, the least you can do is show respect and give courtesy and appreciation. Tipping is not an Australian custom; employers have to pay a decent wage. Wait-staff who support tipping are co-operating in their own exploitation. Demand a decent wage from all employers. But yeah, these guys are assholes.
I always had mixed feelings about tipping because I read somewhere that the tip goes solely to the waiter or waitress. And the cook is also part of my service. And I think the bus boy/girl has even more tough/admirable job because not only are they usually the ones cleaning the nasty shit pile (some) customers leave behind, but also sometimes end up doing the wait staff's job if customers flag them down. which I have seen happen a lot. In the end, often wait staff make a decent living with tips as more often than not people tip at the very least a fair amount. And this is regardless of whether the service is mediocre or great. It only really tends to differ if the service is God awful or if the customer is an unusually bad tipper. In the end, I support what a lot of local restaurants are doing and that is giving all the staff normal wages and encouraging customers NOT to tip at their restaurant as such. And any tips received would be split between all the staff responsible for said customer including the cooks, etc. There is technically an increase in food prices but as someone who consistently tips.and tips the recommended amount of 10 to 20% depending on the quality of service, sometimes even more if it is called for, in the end, the raised food price would be fine as I wouldn't have to worry about tipping and this wouldnt be me paying more for my meal at the end. The only people who'd be taking a fall would be the bad tippers. why the hell would any pity them? I like that they are finally paying as much as me for a meal. And if the service is bad, just report to a manager or owner about it. If the waiter had a typical wage, chances are they won't last long if they continously give out bad service so worrying about that is pointless. If you get a wait staff member when they happen to have a bad day and it's an unusual thing so you'd still continously see them at the restaurant if you do return at all, then just remember wait staff are people too and thus have off days and to forgive and forget. But that's just my two cents. *shrug*

Well at least you know the service was great and that's not the reason why you got a low tip
I wish everyone had to work at least a week in the service industry just to get educated about tipping. In before the "Why should I have to tip you..." "if you don't like it, get another job..." But then who would be there to serve you your entrees?" hmmmm?
