Today, I was delivering packages to patients in the hospital for my job. My boss gave me a room to deliver to, and I drop it off as usual. But my boss gave me the wrong room number. I had to walk in, apologize, and take back balloons and a stuffed animal from a crying 6-year-old patient. FML

you're not all that bright. you should have allowed the six year old to keep the balloons and teddy and told your boss you morally refuse to make a 6 year old patient pay for a mistake made by your company, or your boss for that matter. and worst case scenario you could have payed for the ballons and teddy yourself and replaced them so that both patients received something.

Why didn't you just let him have it and then buy the original kid that same stuff and then give it to him? It won't even cost that much. Win win.

I agree with the people who said that you should've called your boss, explained what happened, and made him pay for you to get new balloons and a new toy to deliver to the correct room, since it was his fault, not yours, and that child didn't deserve to suffer. You don't make someone else, particularly a child, suffer for someone else's mistake. Once when working at a cafe`, I delivered two waffles to two little girls, but their parent's food wasn't quite ready yet. Someone else came up a little while later and asked where their waffles were. I realized that I had given the waffles to the wrong people, but upon checking the two little girls were very happily tucking into the waffles, their parents very pleasantly surprised by the entire thing. Rather than charging them for the waffles or trying to take them away, I simply made more, delivered them to the proper table, and had them take the cost of the two extras I had given the little girls out of my own paycheck. Simple solution, and everyone's happy.

YDI for being cold and heartless. I would've paid out of my pocket to make something nicer and better for the little kid. Maybe more kid friendly baloons and two stuffed animals or something to make it better. You could've said it was just the wrong arrangement or something. Little kids don't need much but to take away something nice is cold on your part.

Get the little kid a stuffed animal or balloon to make it up to him. Sorry tthat happened to you,OP
