I'm scott malconson i have a lisp and diabetes
FYL, but hey, I suppose he was just trying to be nice =) At least you have a nice grandpa.
I assume he doesn't know or understand diabetes entirely. I think you're whining about a misunderstanding and not being appreciative of a grandpa doing his best to make his grandchild happy.
to bad about the diabetes, but the whole thing whit you granpap confuses me, why would you put such a sweet gesture in to a fml.
Ur a dumbass u can adjust ur insulin
He just got diagnosed, which probably means type-1, which means probably doesn't use insulin you ignorant douche.
How about you take a trip on the clue train before you start calling people ignorant douches. Type-1 diabetics are also known as "insulin dependant" diabetics for a reason; they produce little or no insulin of their own. Most are started on some form of injected insulin within hours of diagnosis. Some may have a period where they can stop injections for a short period, but that usually takes a few weeks to kick in, and not everyone gets it (called the honeymoon period where the body starts producing a last burst of insulin before it gives up completely)
Diabetes sucks. My partner has it, but it doesn't stop you enjoying the odd treat, especially if you moderate yourself. I'm not for FYL or YDI in this case. I'm in the middle ^.^
It's annoying how seriously people take FML, writing out long university lectures about diabetes when the OP has most likely already discussed 99% of it with his GP, and other of you telling him to "get over it" and "stfu". Don't tell people how to feel, and don't expect every FML to be a tragic tale of adultery and suicide and soiled underwear. Seriously, nobody can win on this. If they post a sweet, innocent mistake like this they get abused for being over sensitive and not appreciating the gesture, and if they post a more tragic story it's either "fake" or "YDI". It's a website, guys, seriously, grow up. As for the OP, sorry to hear about your diabetes, and bless your Grandad for trying xD I think there are some special kinds of ice cream for diabetics, no idea what they're like. :)
Obviously the people on this site are stupid and don't know the difference between type 1 and 2 diabetes. I have type 1 and we HAVE to take shots of insulin...or at least i do. Most type 2 normally have to take pills and occasionally have to check their bloodsugar. Type 1 diabetics, from my experience have to be more careful about what they eat, for fear of going too high or low. The special ice creams are good. And the special chocolates and stuff too. I've had type 1 since I was 3 and am now 15, almost 16. It's really not so bad, but FYL. I know it sucks when your family members are like "You wanna piece of this red velvet cake?" at parties and you have to refuse because of diabetes...it sucks.
What? I have diabetes too, and I eat whatever the hell I want. I got the pump so i didn't have to worry about shots. I would have the cake and eat it too. Just check, give insulin and enjoy! Unless your doc has you on those strict diets, don't worry about it.
i agree with you. i have been a diabetic for 14 yrs and i am 17 so i have had since i was little. we are allowed to eat anything we want. OP will be able to eat icecream rlly soon dont worry just give it some time. you also dont need the pump to have icecream too so you wont need to worry bout tht :)
I'm sorry... but this is just hilarious. Either your grandfather is ignorant to what diabetes is, or he is a genius with a wonderfully ironic sense of humor.
this isn't an fml. he was just trying to cheer you up.

Awwww does he even know what diabetes is?
Probably just slipped out out of habit. When one of my friends is down we always suggest going out to get ice cream. Either that or he doesn't really understand what diabetes is.
