ouch to everyone saying she deserves to be treated like this just because she may or MAY NOT have (we don't know!) had a child out of wedlock. little kids often will refer to their parents' significant others as "mommy" or "daddy," especially if that person is all they've ever known. as someone already said, perhaps the father died or they divorced? we don't even know for a fact if she did in fact has this child out of wedlock. BUT even if this man is indeed the father's child, why is it so horrible that they're not married? my husband and i had only been together for two years when i got pregnant, and decided not to marry right away because shotgun weddings, while maybe pleasing to narrow-minded people, are often the marriages that do end in divorce. i certainly wouldn't have waited 5 years, but maybe the OP suspected he wasn't faithful and was waiting until he grew up a little more? to the person bringing up the "cows and milk" saying - it's not always the man who holds up the wedding!! Honestly, it just sounds to me like you're overreacting to the little evidence you have. It seems like he had someone with him who happened to be female and you automatically assumed "girlfriend." Either way, that really screams "Trust issues" to me.
