Today, I was entered into an online contest where they announce your name on the radio and if you call in within an hour they pay your bills for you. I'm unemployed, so I got really excited when they announced my name. My call wouldn't go through - I hadn't paid my phone bill and the line was disconnected. FML

Today, I decided to try and call into a local radio station to try and win concert tickets for one of my favorite bands. I called in and was actually the winning number. When asked my name I answered quickly, but all I heard was "Hello? Hello?" Then they hung up. My cell phone was on mute. FML

Today, I finally got a job interview, and I thought it went amazing. They were supposed to call me today or tomorrow with the news. Today is also the day that my phone company decided to cut my phone off. FML

Today, I finally managed to get through to the radio station that I always listen to. I handed the phone to my dad so he could win the prize for me, because I'm under 18. He hung up because he thought it was a prank call. FML

Today, after months of job searching, I finally got a call for an interview. Right in the middle of the call, my phone hung up so the music app could open. I tried calling them back and got no response. FML

Today, I called my phone company to get some answers about my phone bill. I was okay with being put on hold. In fact, I was on hold for so long, that the music stopped playing. When someone finally answered they told me to call back tomorrow. All my phones disconnected an hour later. FML

Today, I lost my $100 in cash that I had to use to pay my phone bill. As a result, my phone got cut off and I missed an important call for an apartment that I was looking at. When I went to work, I heard my boss saying how lucky she was to find $100 in cash. FML

Today, I checked my inbox and realized I got an email from a potential employer, saying they were having trouble getting a hold of me by phone. They called while my mom was using my phone to look up directions to a place, and she answered, kindly hanging up when they asked for me. FML

Today, I was called up about a job I'd recently applied for. I was overly excited to tell them I'd be there on Monday. Then I remembered I canceled my car insurance due to financial difficulties. I have no way of getting there. FML

Today, I was the 10th caller on a radio show. I answered the question correctly. The DJ informed I won a free air guitar of my choosing. I yelled with excitement over the air. The DJ then instructed me how to use my new air guitar. FML

People, sometimes finding a job is NOT that easy. Shut your yaps, seriously. :/ To the OP, I hope you found a friend or asked a neighbor to use the phone. Or a payphone. Or something. Because unless you live in the sticks, finding a phone within an hour is easy.

Agreed with most of the posters. In the space of an hour, it shouldn't have been hard to find a phone to borrow. Offer them $10 if you have to -- would more than pay them back for their trouble, and is presumably far less than the bills they'd have paid for you.

maybe OP isn't submitting from home. maybe from a friend's house. and maybe he/she was on his/her way home from a job interview in traffic? why is everything so black & white on this site. that seriously sucks, i've been there without a job and hoping for the contest to call my name. i've just never actually gotten my name called.

If I were in traffic, I would have asked a nearby idle car and begged for their phone!!! With today's technology, it's near impossible to go an entire hour without ANY access to a phone. Also, they weren't on their way to/from work. OP made it a point to mention their currently UNEMPLOYED. It is black&white in this scenario, I'm afraid.
