Today, I was excited to hear that I received three of my grad school recommendations in the mail from a very busy professor. They need to be submitted sealed, and of course, my nosy mom decided to open them. FML

wow that sucks, hope you don't miss any important deadlines. You should definitely sit down and explain to your mom that if it doesn't say her name it's not for her

this pissed ME off so much I think it gave me the *****!

Dare I ask why the letters were mailed to YOU? Most letters of recommendation go directly to the school. If the professor is as busy as you say, you probably should have pre-addressed and stamped the envelopes for him/her.

Hey Sunshine, any change you go to Dartmouth?

Wait... a recommendation from a teacher to get INTO a college? If so, then those are supposed tone sent straight to the college (from the way I've understood it). Either way, everyone saying that's a federal offense, they're right! Turn your mom in to the cops, that'll teach her to not be an ass & read other people's mail.

Are we turning in a report to be graded? Everyone knows what the intended text is, you don't have to clarify! If the reader is unable to figure it out, they're a dumbass. If you are a such a grammar nazi, become a technical writer. Dork!

um, i dont think that he is correcting grammar so much as he is correcting logic. He thinks that most recommendations go straight to the college and not to the student trying to get in

62 seems to be suffering from the bitch syndrome a bit...

My mum does this, she even opens my parcels. :/

This is what you get for living at home and letting your parents pay for school. They feel entitled.

As people have said, put them in new envelopes or talk to the professor. If your Mom keeps doing this sort of thing, just get a post box. It's not crazy expensive (certainly cheaper than moving out), and you get to take charge of that part of your life.
