Today, I was expecting a card from my husband stationed in Japan, but he mailed it to my mom. Since I'm busy and don't see her much, she tried to help by mailing it to me. It's long overdue, and the post office never got it. The card came from Japan, only to get lost traveling from 30 minutes away. FML

Hi guys, I'm the author of this FML. To clarify I am not lazy or too busy for my mom. I work 10 hour night shifts and go to school. My mom is very sweet and was trying to help me out so I wouldn't have to make a special trip during my work week, and because she knew how excited I was for the card. My husband works 60 hour weeks so he probably didn't think about it. Thank you for the all the kind comments, many of you are very kind.

I was expecting this to end with her mum reading a dirty letter from her husband

The Post Office is always misplacing stuff. -_- Hope it eventually finds its way to you.

I was cursing the post office for losing a nice shirt my mother had sent my husband for his birthday. 11 months later my nephews found the package at one of the side doors to the house while they were playing, an entrance we (obviously) never used and was quite difficult to get too. You never know, it might turn up. Check with your neighbours as well, I often get letters for my neighbours that have been stuck to my mail.

At least it came in time for his next birthday!

Sorry your mail got lost. I got to CDs from Amazon and it took almost two months to get them and they went EVERYWHERE. thought though it would be really cool to have a pen pale if that's what they call it? again sorry you have not received your letter..good luck

Are you really that lazy that you couldn't have driven 30 minutes to pick up the letter?

***busy, not lazy. Don't be so quick to judge when you don't even know the whole story or the person.

I find it funny how everyone keeps mentioning that op is "lazy" for not driving 30 minutes to her moms house. It would've taken a minimum of 1 hour (just driving there and back) not including the time spent visiting with her mom; so more like 1hr and a half. If op was really busy that week and couldn't get there but really wanted to read the letter, then mailing it makes perfect sense.

You deserve it for being too lazy to drive and get it. 30 minutes is nothing. Also: anybody think it's possible the mother didn't actually send it and threw it away because she doesn't like her husband >.>

Then I doubt the husband would've sent it to the mother

I don't get why he would send it to your mother in the first place. he should've sent it straight to you. also i live about 35 minutes from my parents and yeah, it's not that far but far enough not to make a special trip. a stamp costs 45c and it costs way more than that for a 1hr round trip. besides she doesn't have to visit her mother, maybe her mom is mean. idk.

So, why would your husband send a letter there anyway. In this case you deserve it as well as your life sucks.

Did every person talking about laziness somehow manage to miss when the OP specifically said they were busy? Sheeesh, guys ._.

Well I know being stationed in Japan you have lots of ways to communicate, not just letters. So look on the bright side :)

Hopefully you are able to find the card or possibly your husband can send another. Excuse people. Sometimes they assume the worst in others. It's admirable that you go to school and work. Not many can handle it.

I live in Colorado and the Mail has been extremely slow these past weeks.. It took three weeks for a letter my cpa father in law sent to his client that lives in the same city to get there..

Thank you for your family's sacrifice for the country!

Let me break it down for you: Husband sends card to her (he's in Japan), but to her mother's address. Her mother mails it to her. Card gets lost in mail.
