Op here. As most teachers will tell you, kids cheat all the time and badly, too. I usually write my own tests and worksheets and only write up answer keys when I need them, which does cut down on cheating. I didn't even realize I had a teacher's edition of the textbook until I came across those answers. On that day I had a family emergency and figured book work practice for an upcoming test would be fine. I did talk to the students involved and their parents. Unfortunately, several of the kids involved are habitual truants and failing my class anyway, so suspension, detention and a zero on the assignment don't mean much to them. A few of the kids involved, though they struggle, do come to class everyday and try, they just made a stupid decision. After a long (and embarrassing for them) talk with me, they (hopefully) have learned a lesson about cheating and blindly following others.

This is where you fail all the little goniffs who cheated and tell them exactly why--because you know full well they were cheating, not to mention they were cheating poorly.
I thought it was funny...
actually, similar thing happened to my class 1 year. we were doing a project for geography on environmentalism, and on my search, I found a site that basically had everything there to complete the assignment, so anyways I showed the site to a couple others and they showed it and so on. My intention was to help and give a good resource to help my classmates complete the assignment, but they ended up plagiarizing the site and the class got ragged out for it.I'm the only one who passed and didn't have to redo it, because I actually used other resources and didn't copy it like an idiot.
How hard is it to just change the wording and such? Whenever I had to do a paper on something that I have no clue about, I just copied the person next to me's stuff, changed the sentence structure, add some of my personal nuances and bam I pass without getting caught
Wow we'll that's dumb..
That is a textbook example of cheating! (Sorry, had to say it!) Only give them points for that answer as being correct. When they balk, ask them what the real answer. If they can answer it, they lose those points for getting it wrong as well. Cheating never pays.
That's just sad! Obviously. They can't read either!
You know it's weird, whenever I had a sub in either primary or high school we would be allowed to watch movies or play that game where the teacher writes a word on the board and it's a competition to see who can make the most words out of those letters. I didn't realise subs actually have real work o_o
-_- If you want to cheat, be smart about it!!!
Wow when the people in my science class cheated they did it right. They teacher left the computer logged into the grade book they change the grades of the entire class
YAY RE-TEST!!

Should write "Teacher grades may vary. See me after class" on all those that attempted to cheat but failed miserably.
Sucks for them! I hope you suspended them or gave them a grade they deserved.
