Today, I was late for a medical school seminar and test. An SUV flipped over on the highway right in front of me. I held pressure to gushing, lacerated artery until EMS arrived. He lived, but I might have to repeat the whole year because I missed a big test. The test? Emergency response medicine. FML

I am sorry it ended up screwing you over but what you did was so cool. Think about how many lives you helped by saving that one person. Who knows how many people would have been devastated if that person died. Parents, siblings, SO, children, friends, etc... lives would have been forever changed if you hadn't been a hero today. I'm proud of you.

That would really suck if you did have to repeat the entire year, that's a year of school wasted, but you in turn saved someone's life, and possibly gave them many more years of life to enjoy, you should be proud, like everyone else has been saying.

This is not a fml! You saved someones life, and it will probs be on the news or in the new paper, so you have evidence. your school cant hold you back if you have evidence on why you missed a class/

Eh, there's no FYL or YDI for this. You did the right thing. Yeah, it sucks you may have to repeat the whole year, but at least you can look back and say you made the right choice. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise :]

Tell The Ems To Call The Hospital. It Should Make Up For The test And Then Some

I think the act of competently applying theoretical knowledge to a practical situation warrants him not needing to do the test at all but instead be given the highest grade that can be awarded (and also publicly acknowledged) Whats more effective at assessing knowledge? A written test or saving a life?

Nonsensical FML, even without being a repost. You are legally obligated to render first aid if possible as a first responder. No medical school or credible institution would make you wait a year to retake a test in such circumstances. At absolute worst, you'd have to pay another test fee if applicable. So this is complete fiction. If something like this actually happened, I'd hire a lawyer and institute a lawsuit against the institution, and they'd immediately reconsider their previous decision. You might be out a couple hundred in lawyers fees, but you'd get your year back.
