I'm slightly confused as to how your friend is even involved in this situation. When I was in college they did attendance. If your name wasn't on the list you were either sent out of the class or if there was room in the class you could petition to add yourself to that class. Surely some red flags should have gone up somewhere. Were you asleep in class? Is that why your friend had to break the news? Perhaps she was sitting next to you in class and poked you to awaken you,"uh dude...your not registered in this class!" And furthermore...in order to go on academic probation they bring you in to talk with your course counsoler do they not? I had been missing a bunch of class in college because of work and I was notified...warned...counsoled...remined. Theres something missing here
I call bullshit. Nobody gets 6 months suspension for not going to class, screw up your attendance record sure - but suspension? Come on. If it was a clerical error (doesn't matter whose fault it was) a simple conversation with your prof's would have solved this. And Failing 5 Classes? Do your semesters only last one month??? Get your shit together and come up with a better lie.
The exact same thing happened to me last year, i thought i could have gotten the grades appealed considering it wasnt by any fault of my own but was notified that that wasnt a possibility. Unfortunately i had to complete the year of academic suspension, BUTTTT i spoke to the chair of the program that i was doing and she told me that if i wrote a letter to the registrar of the school explaining my situation my grades could be waived bringing up my GPA and it WORKED!!! try it!! good luck =)
in some courses/ schools if u never attended a class you get classified as a FNA [failure not attended]. Besides, after four weeks its past the drop date, so regardless there would be academic penalties... and, if youve had pervious failed classes, and gain even ONE FNA u get put on academic suspension.
ydi for not knowing what your OWN SCHEDULE IS! idiot
Sometimes there's a glitch with your schedule and the teachers roster says something different. This happened to my boyfriend with a class, but he just talked to the teacher and it got fixed. in my experience, it's very easy for a college schedule to get mixed up.

can they just do that?? Can't you complain / explain the situation?
Go talk to your course coordinator and explain the situation, it's not the end of the world. On the bright side, you can take some time to travel.
