Today, I was overseeing a nativity play rehearsal. Things went fairly well, until a boy's grandma stormed in, ranting that Christmas is a "Pagan abomination", and shouting for him and his mom to leave with her. Half the kids were left in tears, and we had to cancel the rehearsal. FML

Don't you ******* hate those religious freaks? I sure do. It's ok to have a religion and be proud of it but you shouldn't go around shoving it down people's throats. -___-

Well technically she's right. How do you think early Christians got all those converts? Io Saturnalia, everyone!

OP, your user name...now THAT'S appropriate for little kids. Grandma's just pissed as there weren't any Jimmy Buffett songs in the play since he was born on Christmas Day. Cheers from Margaritaville!

Always some asshole out there to spoil the Christmas spirit.

Christmas started as the Roman 'Saturnalia' which included human sacrifice. It became a Pagan thing later.

I don't really think it matters if she's technically right. They are small children putting on a Christian play that most kids (at least in the US) are raised with. What an idiot.

I know that Christmas was moved to the same date as a pagan holiday but I do not think that makes it, itself a Pagan holiday.

It pretty much is. The date, as well as many of the symbols such as mistletoe and "Christmas" trees, are all taken from pagan traditions.

"And that's what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown." Good Grief.
