you don't read signs do you? it says right on the pump not to use your phone while pumping gas -_-
so it's safe to mix electricity and flammable gasses? good to know.
Ahh you see though there has never been a related incident to phones causing something to blow up. NOW with that part said there have been hundreds of reported cases that say the static electricity buildup when you get out of your seat can spark and cause a fire to start. Ever noticed when you get out of your car sometimes you get a little shock, that's there to make sure you don't spark and start a fire. Far far more dangerous than any phone is.
the pumps in my town still have the tacky "turn off cellular phones" signs with the picture of a nokia on them
yes but using electrical devices can help cause that build up of static.
that is the reason why there are signs saying you not to use your cell phone while filling up your car...that and the fact that it could cause the gas to set fire.
Only like one in a million they tested it on myth busters
Cuz ever test on a tv show is the gods truth? Talk to any actual physicist and they'll tell you just how bad their experiments are. They equate for maybe half of the variables on any given experiment and that's all. There may be more behind the scenes but please keep in mind it's a show for entertainment, not science class.
even if its only one in a million, if some one walked up to you and said "eat this plant, but don't worry only about one in a million people who eat this die a slow painful death." would you still eat it?
I think the Nokia 3310 would be the perfect phone for you
Problem would be when she launched it, it took out the three cars infront of her and the person crossing the street.
It always seems odd hearing about people's gas station stories. I'm from new jersey so we have people pump our gas for us while we sit in the car. Nothing like that ever happens.
So having people here whose job it is to pump our gas makes us lazy..? No one here has a problem pumping their own gas, but it is how it is. It's just a way to create more jobs for people.
You know, using a cell phone at a gas station at all is illegal, because it could cause an explosion. OP, you're lucky you didn't explode.
it's actually very unlikely to explode. Scientists debate whether or not it's actually possible for the phone signals to cause explosion (I say signals because if it was some electrical fault, then an explosion is obviously possible). buy yeah, it's illegal for a reason so YDI OP.
No, scientists have never debated whether a cellphones signal can start a fire or explosion. The low power mircowaves have no chance. The cause, if there is one, is sparking cases by the battery. It is almost more of an urban myth that hasn't really ever been proven. Most cases that that have been blamed on cellphones could have just as easily been static charge. Also explosions don't happen. In an outdoor, vetalated area the odds of gasoline fumes building up to explosive levels are near impossible. 1% or so that would be needed for an explosion would probably make a human pass out. The bigger danger is fires; flamethrower pumps is not good.
Bitch please. Mythbusters busted that one.
using electrical devices around flammable gasses can potentially "help" the build up of static that can shock and end up being a source of ignition for the fumes. also using electrical devises around flammable gasses is just a bad idea plain and simple, it's like using electrical's in a full bathtub.
Doesn't everyone experience at least once? It's happened to me way more than once, with a fresly made desert, with a cup of water, with a plant, with a cat, etc... Please someone tell me it's normal!
No, it's absolutely not normal if it happens 'way' more than once.
Leaving stuff on top of the car happens to almost everyone at one point....but most of us are not unfortunate to have it fall off....but why didnt anyone point it out to you?
That's something my father does regularly

This is NOT the correct way to launch an app on your phone.
Where I'm from there are signs all over the petrol station saying "No use of mobile phone near bowser" etc... So I say YDI.
