Today, I was riding my bike to the local grocery store to pick up some supplies for dinner. On the way down, traveling down a hill, I hit a drain with no lid. I went to grab hold of the nearest object to soften my fall. That nearest object was a barbed wire fence. FML

Okay, I lol'd. I might have to use that one... But yeah, I've posted "I moderated this!" before, but I usually have something worth saying pertaining to that (ex: "I moderated this and I am glad it passed, because I really, really wanted to tell you that you suck.") ... I think I've only done it twice, maybe. Yes it's nice that people agree with you about someone else's life being ******, but really, some of these guys... I think they think they're the only ones moderating.

usually i cant stand u but i have to admit that this comment was hilarious as hell....i lol'd at its sarcastic simplicity... good job troll!

YDI for not having a car. unless ur obese and need excerise.

WTF? Cars suck and destroy our civic life. Go learn to ride a bike.

Regardless of whether they're obese or not some people like to work out to keep themselves in shape dipshit (it also saves on gas). You must not exercise that often either since you seem to think that all people who ride bikes are fat. It makes me think if lifting your fingers to type is the only exercise you'll ever get. OP, good job for actually doing something that's healthy for you. FYL for grabbing the fence since you can't control reflexes.

i'm pretty sure it's the obese people who drive to the grocery store. and then eat the food as they drive home. most of the cyclists i see are very fit.

^^some people want to be conservative of energy. helloooo, we're kind of in the middle of global warming here! and OP...trust me, traveling downhill and falling off your bike can give you serious injuries, it could kill you even. a barbed wire saved your face; worship that wire.

Sorry but I'm going to do a YDI for being an idiot about falling. When you fall (espically on bike) it's best to tuck in your arms and roll into it. Stcking your arm out is a great way to break a bone. Try to catch yourself is a great way to dislocate a shoulder, tear a rotor cup or in your case rip your hand up on a barb wire fence.

I find there's not enough time to think when I'm about to get horribly injured.

Sometimes It is good to put your arms out. I went over the handle bars on my bike once. If I did not put my arms I would have landed chin first and broke my jaw. I did break my arm and get some nasty cuts, but they are nothing compared to a broken jaw. Make sure you contact the public works department in where you live. If that gave a person on a bike problems it can give a car problems. No one can really say this guy deserved it. He was probably riding with traffic and was forced on the side of the road.

It would have been even better with an electric barbed wire xD

i call bull, why is there barbed wire so close to the road?

Have you ever been anywhere that's not a city? There are frequently barbed wires very close to roads here... to keep the cows in!

OUCH, I actually cringed :/ FYL definitely!

OUCH! You should sue the town for having their drains uncovered.

pff, I ran into one once, didn't see it because some genius got the idea of making a maze out of it. I was a kid and wanted to show the other kids how fast I ran and didn't see a tiny detour in the maze :P I would have fallen over the fence but my face got stuck in it.

repeat FML there was one yesterday with an electric fence
