Today, I was shopping in an upscale store. As I was changing, I heard one of the snobby saleswomen say to mine "You shouldn't bother. She isn't going to buy anything." Determined to "show her", I purchased everything I'd tried on. It came to around $500. My credit card was declined. FML

that's just... stupid. plain and simple. why on earth would you buy things you didn't even really want just to try to "show" a saleswoman? what does it matter really?

you're an idiot. she probably knew you'd get pissed off and go on a buying spree, giving her friend 80 bucks in commish. YDI.

you're a moron... give both of them hell then make a mess and be like "you know what i was ready to drop a grand in here because of a job promotion that needed me to upgrade my wardrobe, but because this one's big ass mouth you lost it. be sure to let your manager know that"

You do know that was a ploy to make you buy more...I would have just walked out and make it know you're going to spend your money some where else Then you would have saved yourself from the embarrassment of your credit card not working

You are a sad, shallow person.

Dumbass. Why in god's name would you do that?

you should have walked right out of there and said, "well I WAS going to make a purchase, but now I am not. So say buh bye to your commission!" then dropped all the clothes on the floor.

Ah, you wanted a Pretty Woman moment. Oh well, now you know you not to buy things you don't actually want/need or can't afford

Totally understandable. However, the way to actually show her was, as people said above, to confront them, complain to the manager, and just generally take the highest road possible. If you had been in the middle of trying things on, then I would have stopped right there, put my own clothes back on and refused to even try another thing given their (incredible) rudeness. I'm sorry about your credit card. :/

i dont understand how this is a FML. This is more of a I got to show them but at the same time get away with purchasing nothing

Agreed with 125: Wanting to "show her" after that rude comment is reasonable, but your way of doing it was pretty ineffective. And still would have been ineffective had your credit card not been declined. Heck, if everyone responded that way, it would be great for business to have rude salespeople. Not the message you want to send...
