If it really was a "pebble" that caused you to lose control maybe you should let someone a little more experienced than you teach him.
Now is the best time to show him perseverance! Get back on that bike!
Do you mean rock/bolder/tombstone...okay I am getting a bit carried away... He'll ride eventually just be more carful maybe ride in a soft area and examine for your pebbles...
Pebble - 1 Bicycle - 0
I want to ride my bicycle. I want to ride it now.
I live in California I go dirt biking all the time boulders don't trip me I don't see how a pebble can do that also as he gets older he'll want to learn again so don't worry he'll learn eventually
A pebble? How is a pebble going to cause a bike problems? Are you mice? Are you riding a bike that is less than six inches tall? It's a damn pebble! What, did it fly up and hit you in the eye or something?
I remember when I was learning how to ride a bike I crashed into a patch of stinging nettles

Not quite sure how a "pebble" caused this much damage.
This is why you must teach them when they're younger and fearless.
