Today, I was so ashamed of being broke that instead of asking my parents for money, I snuck into their house while they were at work to steal some of their food. FML

That's a little low, you should just ask instead of stealing. If they care about you they will help.

you should probably ask next time. they are your parents. unless they are assholes, they will help you out.

I rather be ashamed and full than ashamed, hungry, and a burglar. The food would have fill my ashamed at least 50 %.

"I'd rather be ashamed and full than ashamed, hungry, and a burglar. The food would have fill my ashamed at least 50 %." Ashamed, full and a burgler vs ashamed and hungry. That's a much more accurate version.

I did not notice that. Thank you for point that out.

You gotta do what you gotta do. But you should also make the decision to repay them back without them knowing too

I've been there!!.. When I first moved out and didn't know how to really budget my money yet... I had to ask mom and dad for a couple rolls of toilet paper and cans of soup. Keep your chin up! :)

what broke young person doesn't take their parents food when they aren't home? it's normal, get over it folks.

So it's better that you family eventually finds out you are a thief than broke and hungry? Sorry OP, you are a piece of work in my book.

One day you'll be successful and will be able to provide for them if they ever needed anything :)

I would go visit my grandma just because she loved to cook for me. Nothing to be ashamed about. ;)

I've been there OP I know the shame of asking for help. keep your head up it does get better xx

Food bank bro. This is why they exist.

It's not stealing if you've got a house key
