Non confrontational

Today, I snuck into my aunt's house while she was working to raid her pantry, like I do most days. Excited for a snack cake, I went to the pantry. Apparently she'd found out, because there was a lock on it. FML

If your broke, then at least ask if you can raid your Aunts stuff, then replace it when you can. Don't just steal her stuff. Family doesn't mean "take what you want without permission." It's really stupid that I have to say this. I really hope you weren't expecting sympathy when you posted this.

that's what you get for being a freeloader

Honestly, she could’ve started the legal route instead and I would not have been sad for you.

Just ask her if you can take one, it’s not hard

Well, at the very least, she was probably wondering why her food kept magically disappearing. YDI for not asking permission before taking her food. Whatever your situation, be it you're struggling financially or you're just a greedy leech, it's not okay to just take something. That's called stealing, which is punishable in the eyes of the law.
