Today, I was telling my dad about how I emasculated my guy friends because I can drive a stick shift while they can't. He said, "And you wonder why people think you're a lesbian." FML

I didn't know driving a stick would considered being lesbian...?

Manual is great for driving, auto is great for boring commutes. I don't get people who can't be stuffed learning a manual, but I like to drive not just get from A to B.

Good for you! I'm a female electrical student so I'm used to odd comments but for your DAD to take a shot at you is really low. I've always been the girl playing bloody knuckles, making dirty jokes, and just being one of the guys.. there's nothing lesbian about enjoying or being good at a "guy" thing.

I don't drive at all. I live in a city so I have public transportation + my bicycle. A car is expensive and those expenses carry on forever. If I were to drive though, it would definitely be an automatic drive. Why go through all of the trouble with a stick shift? I wouldn't feel comfortable drive it.

It's really no wonder your father thinks that. Your online handle is one of the Furies.

He's right op... Generally women don't thrive on being manly... There's really nothing wrong with it but don't whine when people make assumptions as to why you're manly. Also, for the record, being able to drive a stick isn't manly so your story was stupid anyway.

115, it's great you got to speak but next time stick to the topic. My point wasn't that you have to be manly to be a lesbian and the existence of cases where each exists without the other doesn't prove anything.. Besides, it's a general stereotype they rarely apply to every case..
