Today, my friend needed to talk out bad feelings. Then she urged me to open up as well. I hate doing it, but it only seemed fair, so I confessed my deep insecurities. Not only did she agree with everything, but she also helpfully added that I'm boring, have no life, and all my dreams are unattainable. FML

Yeah but if everyone started being weird then that would become the norm and normal people would become weird. Your argument reminds me of how emos used to say they were non conformists by wearing stupid clothes but really they were just conforming to what their friends and musical influences said they should. If they really wanted to not to conform they should have worn a potato sack to school and eaten out of the local landfill while chanting bible verses.
