Today, I was visiting my sick grandmother in the hospital when my cousin and I were playing in some empty wheelchairs. After goofing off I said, "They're fun, but I would kill myself if I was in a wheelchair." A little boy rounded the corner and said, "Tell me about it." He was in a wheelchair. FML

Today, I was taking the elevator down with a group of people. It stopped on the 2nd floor and I said "What asshole can't take the steps from the 2nd floor?" Then a kid in a wheelchair got on. FML

Today, I was at the Salvation Army when I saw a wheelchair in the miscellaneous aisle. I thought it would be fun to ride around in it. As I was wheeling it back to where I found it, I made it back just as it's owner was hobbling out of the dressing room. FML

Today, I visited with my cousin on her deathbed. When I asked what she was doing, they replied that she was sleeping. Next thing out my mouth without thinking was, "She can sleep when she's dead." FML

Today, my 6 year-old daughter saw a man in a wheelchair whose leg had been amputated. She walks up to him and says, "What happened?" He answers kindly that he's a war veteran. She then responds, "Well then you deserve to get your leg blown off. You shouldn't be killing people." FML

Today, I went on a field trip with some people from school. I'm currently confined to a wheelchair, so I had to rely on my sister to get around. She eventually went off with her friends, assuming that the people nearby would keep me company. Five minutes later, they'd all left me. FML

Today, I worked up the confidence to go to the mall alone for the first time since being confined to a wheelchair. It didn't even take 20 minutes before some teenager grabbed my wheelchair and tried to race me around, all while his friends watched and laughed. FML

Today, I was working at a hospital-level rest home. I was making the rounds when I noticed a woman was sitting in her (electric) wheelchair in the middle of the hall. Going closer, I saw her battery was flat so I said, "Uh-oh! Looks like you've died." She bawled her eyes out and said, "Not yet." FML

You know, being in a wheelchair isn't really all that bad. Yeah, there are seriously times that it sucks, but I got an awesome service dog outta this bad deal. And people always remember you. I think people don't realize that if they HAD to deal with something crappy, they'd manage to do just fine. You don't just give up, you do what needs to be done and move on. Yes, sometimes it hits me that my legs and body don't work, but most of the time I don't even think about it. And wheelchairs lead to some amazing FML moments, like tipping over backwards in public places. And honestly, I don't of myself as being stuck in my chair. Without it, I'd be stuck. With it, I can do anything. (Except walk, or climb stairs!)

I don't believe this is a bad thing to say. Mostly because I say "If this happened, I would kill myself." But I wouldn't actually kill myself, I just mean that I would not like it one bit. I think that's what the OP meant!? And it's not really a FML because the boy was agreeing with you, not contradicting you. ;)

Yeah, but even though the boy took it well, I wouldn't feel too good if someone said, "Wow, if I were in your position I would kill myself." Maybe that's just me.
