At least they didnt expect you to pay for the dinner :)
Just so you know, there is a grammatical error in your post. Look for it. I bet you can't find it. All right, I'll go ahead and tell you. The sentence "My parents came in to have dinner and surprise me" is incorrect because it does not use parallelism. It should read "My parents came in to have dinner and to surprise me." Doesn't that sound better? It's a simple mistake to make, but a pretty crucial one. If you want to do something besides wait tables in your life, you must learn to write correctly. No one wants an employee who can't even write her own resume!
Sadly even that cannot give you a job these days (and english is my third language after french and spanish)
they were probably joking...
Rape and murder them. Then get a job you don't suck at.
your parents just did'nt want to pay
how bad can anyone get at serving. i mean unless you sneeze into the food while bringing it over or you trip and send all the food to the floor, or you spill hot soup on your mum, you should be fine right? or maybe you were just nervous around them cause theyre family. that could explain why you sucked. but still, thats pretty bad what they did
How bad do you have to suck at serving stuff to people if your own parents wont tip you? This was my first thought, then I realized that my own parents are in fact assholes who would do just this to e if I was waiting tables. So I am torn here. Could it be that the combination of a bad day and the fact that you knew they were your parents maybe have caused you to slack on their service? In that case you deserve it :P

Can't blame you. I hate it when family/friends come in to "surprise" me. That's not happily surprising someone, that's rubbing their recreational freedom in your face and then leaving without you.
You know where they live... that's all im gonna say
