Maybe it thought you needed to run a bit faster.

Perhaps the dog freaked out because of your bizarre behavior. It wants you to be back on the couch eating Cheetos as usual.

Yeah, dogs need to introduced to jogging/running beside their owner. You have to do it little by little, starting with a slow jog in the middle of your walk, then increasing the length of time you jog and the pace you're going at. Then, you're supposed to give him a treat after every time he jogged and didn't freak out, even if it was only for two minutes, to build a positive association with it.

I will never understand why "woof" became a synonym for "that sucks" or other such similar phrases. The first time I heard it I was like "...are you a dog?"

46 - woof sounds like rough. As in, that's rough. Cant believe I had to explain that.

dog brain-“wait...my owner never exercises... IMPOSTER!"

If you still carried on after being attacked, then that is what I call dedication! maybe your dog was testing you...

Did you bite his ear? I hear that's how you reassert dominance, it's totally true, I saw it in a movie once.

On the list of things that can't lie, movies fall squarely between politicians and the Internet.

He was probably mad at you for not taking him with you

And Neil Patrick Harris would say "suit up!" ......but for your poor dog this time

Well, were you making eye contact while running towards him, because that would scare any dog or person for that matter. Next time you should bring your dog with you on a run if that's something he's not used to you doing that way he'll be more comfortable with it.

Your own dog shouldn't be scared of making eye contact with you. If it get scared of the owner running towards it, it clearly is something else that's wrong since it apparently is afraid of the person it should love the most. Lack of training, not too good mentally, or maybe it has been attacked by people before - but I doubt that since OP probably would know better than to do stuff that scares it then.

That's true, I didn't mean making eye contact in general though. If you're looking at a dog and running full speed towards it can cause it to get anxious or riled up thinking you're playing. Some dogs just would sit there but it depends on the dog. I have no idea what age or energy level or breed OP has.
