In the US, one can expect compensation really only when some type of lasting injury that has resulted from actual negligence has occurred, and this is not likely to fall in that category. Unless there are persistent headaches or something like that. However, in the US, no one can observe in surgery without a signed release from the patient, or it is considered a violation of privacy (HIPAA Act) and that is a whole different matter. One can sue for a violation of privacy. Don't know about Belgium so may not apply there.
